Zach Makovsky - No Gi and Wrestling Instructor

Zack began his grappling career as a youth wrestling for Bethlehem Catholic High School and Drexel University. At Drexel, he served as the captain of the team during his senior year and compiled an overall record of 65-7. In 2006 Zack made the transition to mixed martial arts winning his first fight by unanimous decision. In 2010 Zack entered Bellator Fighting Championship’s Bantamweight Tournament and won the promotion’s Bantamweight title. In November of 2013 after moving down to Flyweight, Zack captured Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s Flyweight title. Just 3 weeks later, Zack was offered a fight in the UFC against fellow flyweight Scott Jorgensen. On December 14, 2013 Zack beat Jorgensen by Unanimous Decision. Zack Makovsky brings a wealth of experience in grappling to his classes at Martinez BJJ both in wrestling and no-gi jujitsu. 
MARTINEZ BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
William Martinez Jr. is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Master Carlos Machado, 
8th degree Black Belt.  

Will was awarded his Black Belt on October 27, 2012 by Master Carlos Machado, at the 5 
Brothers Camp 2012 (Rigan, Roger, Carlos, John and Jean Jacques Machado) in Dallas, Texas. 

Will is also an active Pro MMA fighter, with a record of 9-3-1, his most recent win being at 
Bellator 110, in February 2014. His MMA training began in 2007 with Philadelphia Fight Factory. 
He has trained side by side with great fighters such as Steve Haigh, Zack Makovsky, 
Steve McCabe, Eddie Alvarez, Tara Larosa and Phil and Rick Migliarese, Tim Carpenter, 
Tim Hart, Daniel Tavares and Ryan Hall to name a few. These training partners have helped 
him become the professional fighter he is today. 

He continues to compete in Grappling tournaments up and down the east coast. (Both in NO 
GI and GI) Facing off against some of the best, David Bass, Seth Smith, Andy Main, Zack Makovsky, Bill Algeo, and Jimmy Morrison. The latest being the 2012 Naga Tournament in Wildwood NJ, where he won the Belt for his weight/belt class.  

In early 2011, Will opened his school, Martinez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Philadelphia, where his BJJ, MMA and Muay Thai programs have grown quickly and far exceeded his original plans. His goal is to continue to train with his students, and spreading the Machado Style Jiu Jitsu skills throughout his current location in Philadelphia, and one day expanding out to other locations.

Joe Bentz - Kids and Teens Wrestling Instructor


Jesse Velez - Kids and Teens Instructor

​Jesse is a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jujitsu under Will Martinez. His background in Football, Volleyball, and competitive Powerlifting is extensive, and he continues to train in powerlifting privately. Jesse began with Martinez Brazilian Jujitsu at its beginning in 2011, coaching and training the Wolf Pack kids and teens program at several NAGA tournaments. Jesse has been coaching youth programs for 25 years, beginning in 1989 coaching youth basketball at the Police Athletic League. Jesse is a Naga competitor himself and relates his knowledge and patience to the kids as they learn to become competitors.
Joe is a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Will Martinez. His 
background in wrestling, Judo and Jiu Jitsu is extensive. With over 10 years of 
coaching experience with youth wrestling programs at Kutztown University. 

He also is a PIAA Wrestling Official. Joe has a rank of Black Belt in Judo, and is 
the Head Instructor of the Cheltenham Judo Club.  

Joe has been coaching youth programs in Jiu Jitsu for 5 years.  Joe is a Naga 
Champion as well himself, and has coached at the International level.  
Joe comes to Martinez BJJ with his extensive knowledge and has become the kids and 
teens wrestling instructor.
