Childrens Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that uses grappling and ground-fighting techniques that can teach kids to be stronger, more confident and less prone to bullies.
Our classes are split into two age groups, 5 to 8 year old and 9 to 14 year old.
The training methods for these age groups are different, but still cover all of the same techniques, as you can see in the videos presented here.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and self defense program all rolled into one. Grappling and ground fighting are the focus of this program. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes taking an opponent to the ground and utilizing ground fighting techniques and submission holds involving joint-locks and chokeholds also found in numerous other arts with or without ground fighting emphasis. The premise is that most of the advantage of a larger, stronger opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes, both of which are somewhat negated when grappling on the ground.
The health benefits of our BJJ classes can only be viewed as positive influences in your life. They include Weight Loss, Increased Cardio Strength, Increased Muscle Mass, Flexibility, Self Confidence and Stress Reduction, to name a few.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be trained for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self defense. The video on the left is an example of a typical class.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport, which allows the use of both striking and grappling martial arts. These arts include, but are not limited to, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Wrestling to name a few.
The classes are one the best workouts for shredding fat, shaping and toning the body and building up cardio conditioning. The video on the left shows a typical class format.
The Martinez Brothers do train both professional and amateur MMA fighters, but it is not necessary to become one to take these classes, just the desire to train hard and get in shape is all that is needed.

Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. It is referred to as “The Art of Eight Limbs”, because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes. These classes consist of repeated technique drills using shields and hand pads.
While kicking and striking techniques, are the main focus of these classes, make no mistake, the weight will pour off of your body, you will drop inches and your muscle tone will increase along with cardio conditioning. Our Muay Thai program is designed to help you get in shape, with the extra added benefit of learning to defend yourself.
You will reduce stress, gain energy, and get in shape while having fun. You will learn each technique safely and properly to avoid injury.
Muay Thai classes can be taken at Martinez BJJ for the purpose of competing or for their conditioning benefits. All level of students are welcomed, and will be instructed accordingly.
